At this point I feel like that's me done, I can't even imagine another half let alone the full thing. It take a LOT and I am just taking it a day at a time. Right now my focus is on completing the half successfully. Totally agree, marathons are an amazing athletic feat.

Well done and all the best on your race, Sharon! Are you planning on doing the marathon in the future? I ran my first marathon (Stockholm), and knew before I did it that it would be my last - the time commitment to the training swung my life out of balance for the last 8 months. Friends told me I would change my mind once I did the race; they were certain I would love the experience and want to run another one to better my time. They were wrong. This year's Stockholm Marathon had the worst weather in its 34-year history: 38 degrees, steady rain, and 20-30 mph winds. By the end I had mild hypothermia, since I didn't pack my winter running jacket and had only three light layers to wear (luckily, I did pack gloves and a hat, and was able to buy reasonably-priced running tights in Stockholm.) It simply wasn't fun, and by the looks on other runners' faces, I wasn't the only one that felt that way. While I am happy I endured and finished the race, the experience reinforced my notion that I would never do another marathon. It's back to half-marathons, 10K's, and 5K's for me. I have the utmost respect for all the people who run marathons and ultras at whatever pace they do - it's an amazing athletic feat. Best of luck to you in your future runs.

I'm sure loads of us can relate to it! Busying ourselves does not equal productivity and getting distracted on the internet is VERY easy. Great point Caterpillarmom-unsubscribing and removing yourself from distractions is also something I try do often

I can definitely relate to convincing myself that I'm working when all I'm doing is acquiring knowledge. In fact, I dragged my feet the first year I decided to venture online doing nothing but reading, sort of implementing, and getting more confused than ever. Writing down my goals in a mission statement has really helped by buckle down the past few months - that, and removing myself from forums and unsubscribing to all of the newsletters that were only serving to clutter my inbox (really anything that was causing information overload).

I really enjoyed this post - reading it only helped affirm my goal of staying consistent and just getting out there and 'doing' it!

Good luck on your first half marathon. As someone who runs just to stay healthy and has never trained for anything longer than a 10K, I admire people who are motivated to put in the effort that it takes for a marathon. In my alternate exercise existence, I am a cyclist who has ridden 50-100 miles routinely.

Excellent post about something most of us have fallen prey to. The "Easy Button" only works on TV, online &/or offline marketing requires time, effort, focus and even a bit of luck in picking a profitable niche.congrats on your milestone. Wishing you continued future success.

Good reminders, Sharon But sometimes it’s hard to keep up the enthusiasm for stepping forward each day when the hole never appears to get closer (or actually moves farther away).

Natalie, start with what you are doing now and what your passions and interest are. You didn't say what you do but earning a living from home can be done. You don;t have to leave your job straight away but you can start by working on your business part time. The income from your work would certainly help in bits and bobs in marketing your business. You go girl, you can do it.

You inspire me to run, you look amazing Sharon, and have so much drive!

I am so fed up at my work, there is so much bitching but I am not bold enough to make a move. I could leave tomorrow if I had my way but what can I do? I want to spend my more time with my kids

Love the recap! Can’t wait to hear about your next running adventure. It’s amazing how much planning and training really goes into running any race let alone half marathon.Reading your recap really makes me want to run one, but no chance, am just a couch right now!
